If you are currently uninsured but need access to oral healthcare services, you’ve come to the right place. Nepean Dental Centre is here to help you understand whether you are eligible for the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) in Nepean. This federal government program makes it possible for qualified enrollees to receive financial help when receiving certain dental treatments. If you are interested in learning more about this unique program, keep reading, or feel free to call our office today to schedule an appointment.

What is Covered by the CDCP?

When using the CDCP, you can expect to receive coverage for many preventive and restorative services. These include:

  • Dental checkups and cleanings
  • X-rays
  • Dental fluoride
  • Dental sealants
  • Dental fillings
  • Scaling and root planing (gum disease treatment)
  • Root canal treatment
  • Partial and full dentures
  • Tooth extractions
  • And more!

The plan works based on your family’s adjusted net income. As a result, you may or may not have a co-payment when visiting our dental office. This is what you will be required to pay directly to our office. Generally, CDCP will reimburse some of your treatment costs if your net income is between $70,000 and $89,999. It might look something like the following:

  • Less than $70,000 net income: 100% paid by CDCP
  • $70,000-$79,999 net income: 60% paid by CDCP
  • $80,000-$89,999 net income: 40% paid by CDCP

How Do I Know If I Qualify?

When trying to determine if you qualify for CDCP, you must understand there are strict requirements. This means that you must:

  • Not currently be enrolled in a dental insurance plan
  • Have an adjusted family net income below $90,000 per year
  • Be a Canadian resident
  • Have filed your tax return last year

When Can I Get My Benefits?

As soon as you sign up and are approved for the CDCP, you’ll receive a package in the mail with your membership care. This will include all the necessary information you’ll need to receive access to oral healthcare, including your co-payment details and the start date of your coverage. Each person’s plan will be different based on start time.
